Restaurant forum planned at county health department

Restaurant owners and community members are invited to a forum to discuss healthier menu options, portion control and how everyone can benefit from making changes. The meeting is set for 2 p.m. March 12 at the Cleveland County Health Department, 250 12th Ave. NE.Norman Regional Health System is sponsoring the forum on behalf of the Healthy Community Coalition to address a current health crisis as more Americans are putting on weight at an alarming rate.Nearly 60 percent of Norman residents are overweight or obese. With overweight and obesity come increasing risks for high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, hyperlipidemia and other health issues.A panel of experts will listen to concerns, answer questions and offer suggestions.Among the topics planned are allowing patrons to share meals or offering half orders of entrees, lower-calorie cooking methods, incorporating fruits and vegetables, putting add-ons to the side of entrees and allowing healthier substitutions. For more information, call Norman Regional community dietitian Susan Pacific at 307-6618.

'30-In-30' Weight Loss Challenge Changes Format, But Not Its Mission

After a lot of thought and contemplation about the future purpose of the "30-In-30" Low-Carb Weight Loss Challenge blog, I have decided to stop keeping tally of the weeks in the challenge.

WHAT?! Are you quitting on us, Jimmy? Say it ain't so?

Well, it AIN'T so! But the more I looked at what has happened with this challenge with brand new people joining each week, it only makes sense to scratch the hard dates over the 30-week period. While I am in Week 25, someone else is in Week 19, another one is in Week 4, and for some this is their first week. That gets REALLY confusing for people to follow.

So, henceforth, I will no longer refer to the week we are in for "30-In-30" challenge because it is different for everyone. But the mission to lose 30 pounds over 30 weeks remains.

Bruce Willis has been dieting for nude sex scenes.

The Hollywood actor - who is currently shooting 'Live Free or Die Hard' - wants to look perfect when he bares-all on the big screen. Bruce said: 'I have a few naked scenes so I want to look good. But I am not going to be a size zero.' The ageing actor - who is set to return as police officer John McLean - has embarked on a gruelling training regime to turn his middle-aged spread into a buff body. However, Bruce's expanding waistline hasn't hindered his sexual prowess. At his 50th birthday party last year, he claimed his sex life was better than any 25-year-old's. He said: 'Sex is much better at 50. You are in less of a hurry and know a few more tricks.' The handsome actor - who has been linked to a string of young beauties since divorcing actress Demi Moore in 2000 - claims he is still a great catch and insists his equipment is in good working order.

The Scent of a Calorie: Whiff of Food Cancels Longevity from ...

Evidence began mounting as long as 70 years ago that restricting calories while consuming necessary amounts of sustenance could increase one's life span. Since then, a group called the North Carolina-based Calorie Restriction Society has sprouted whose 1,800 members routinely down about half of the daily caloric intake recommended by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the hope of living to the ripe old age of 120.

New research may prompt the organization to send out nose plugs with its next newsletter. .
